Setting up equipment to run your own race night

You will need

  • Projector and screen or large screen TV
  • Video player (any home VCR will do)
  • Sound system (pub/club or PA system) connected to the video player
  • Microphone (if possible)

Important: If you are considering hiring equipment for your race night, ask us first - it can often cost the same as booking us to run your event for you

  • The sound system needs to be quite powerful as race nights are noisy events. What is adequate for a room full of people listening to a presentation may not be enough. The speaker built into the projector is certainly unsuitable.
  • If the projector is currently connected to a laptop or DVD player, you can't just slot a video player in. A laptop will be connected with a completely different cable. The DVD player may have the right cable but this cable will not connect directly to a video player. You will probably need an adaptor for the video player's SCART socket.
  • If the projector is on a stand in front of the screen, it will need to be about 10-feet away depending on the size of the screen. Make sure there is plenty of clear space in front of it and no-one is going to knock it over.
  • Cover or tape down cables that are running along the floor.
